Story Board

These images above are parts of our storyboard, however they are not definite as we may want to make throughout the filming process.

I See New

Filming at Youth Group + Lyric Change

The original song ' I See' was written by Joe himself, it originally only featured his vocals. Once we had both listened to the track we loved it however it did feel like it lacked another level of vocal. After a lot of discussion we decided to incorporate female vocals onto the track, this is where our friend Louise comes in. We realized that adding a female vocal allows us to create a more fitting story line to the track.

When Louise was first added to the song the lyrics were the same, but after reviewing the track we discovered that the parts that Louise was singing didn't quite fit.  Joe decided it would work best if he made some subtle changes to the song. He changes some of the lyrics around so that they all fitted within the chords of the song. Me and my partner Georgina decided to re -film a more up-to-date version of the song.  So I met Joe and Louise at their youth group  in order to record the new song.

Copyright Permission

If we were to create a music video using a copyrighted song, we would have had to secure permission from the artist to allow us to use their track. However we are going to use a song that our friends have wrote so we thought that it would be a good idea to obtain their permission to make it more official and professional.

Below is the contract that we created in order to gain Joe and Louise's permission to use their song. We will ask them both to sign the contract and upload a more recent version when they have.

Target Audience Via Social Networking

Social Networking in this era has become a great way for people to communicate. It is a great way of promoting Web 2.0 as it allows you to upload images and videos. We therefore took advantage of this social networking site and uploaded a video of Joe and Louise singing the song that we are going to use for our music video.

Once we have uploaded it to Facebook we will write a comment asking people to view it and therefore leave comments, which will enable us to gain some audience feedback and also narrow down our potential target audience.

From this audience feedback we have realised that our target audience seems to be teenage girls between the ages of 15-20. When we create our music video we shall consider the target audience and see if features we may include in our music video are appropriate for our target audience.

Target Audience Questionnaire and Results

I have conducted some Target Audience Research through the use of a questionnaire. I was concerned with attempting to find out the audiences favourite genre and also the most popular age group that listens to this genre. I gave my questionnaire to 10 males and 10 females and asked them to complete it. The presentation shows a couple of graphs of my results.

Original Song - I See

The video above is the original song that me and Gina are going to use for our music video. The song is called 'I See'.

Can you hear my voice? Out here in the cold I gave you all I had to give Now all I have is what you did not take I kept my head so as not to fall again But I failed at least now Your lips they lie but your eyes told the truth Now why can’t I walk away? Now I wish that you could see me I just want you back The simple truth which I long to say Is that I, miss you And though she did not love you At least not the way she was supposed to But now you’re searching for it But you did not find it in me Now I wish that you could see me now And I just want you back The simple truth that I long to say Is that I miss you And these tears, falling from my eyes Won’t keep you from walking But please, think about what you said Now I see you don’t care You don’t care No, you don’t Now I wish that you could see me now I just want you back The simple truth that I longed to say Is that I miss you (x2) Is that I love you Is that I love you

Characters

Louise
Joe
When considering characters to act in our music video, I felt that me and partner already knew that Joe and Louise would be the main characters. This is because they wrote the song and should therefore play a major part in constructing the music video for it. They are both also the correct age for our target audience, therefore they will be more relatable for our target audience.

In order for our music video to appear realistic and professional  we had to consider the style of dress for both our characters. We briefly looked at mise en scene ( clothing) within our mood board and came to a decision that we ere going to dress our characters formally. As you can see from the images to the left, both our characters are wearing black and white only, this is because of our decision to film in black and white. We feel that black and white mise en will benefit the music video quality. The formal dress style also helps the audience identify the narrative, as their dress style appears as if they are heading out for a meal or even a date.

Mood Board

Above is a video of me and my partner Georgina Jefimik discussing our Mood Board idea. We created a Mood Board so that all of our ideas were in one place and that we could refer back to it when we come to create our music video. This Mood Board allows us to change our idea if we need too, even though our idea is quite definitive. Below are a few images of each selection of our Mood Board:
