Audio Track Images

As we have previously mentioned when we first created our rough cut we didn't have the audio track so at first it was difficult to record our footage as we were unable to sync the miming with the lyrics of the song. Whilst we were editing our rough cut we noticed that we really did need the 'audio track' to make our video easier to record and overall more professional.

Below are some photographs that we took whilst our main characters were in the process of recording the audio track for 'I See'.

Filming Take 2

After reviewing and evaluating our rough - cut, we knew the shots and the scenes that we would have to re-shoot. So we have organized to do some more filming this weekend in order to obtain more footage for our music video. As I have previously mentioned in the 'Problems' video, we are have had to change the location of our music video, we are now going to film at Georgina's house rather than Louise's. We may still use some of the original footage, but if we decide to do so we will have to be careful with continuity issues and also the consistency of our location shots.

Joe and Louise have finally recorded the audio track, which will in turn make it a lot easier when recording the new footage for our music video. We will be able to play the audio track while they mime the words, this will decrease the number of lip syncing problems we encountered during our first day of filming.

These images above are a couple that I took during the process of our second day of filming.I believe they show how we gave our characters/actors direction and guidance during the filming stage.

Evaluation of Rough Cut

After viewing our rough cut we decided to evaluate it and make a list of things that worked well and things that didn't.

WHAT WORKED WELL:

  • We liked the opening scene and thought that it would be unique to have a realistic scene before the actual track starts. We feel that when an audience views this particular scene it will help introduce them to the narrative of our video.
  • The notable shot in our video is the ' Kiss Scene'.  When filming this scene it was at first fairly awkward, however it has turned out unexpectably well and we have decided to use this scene within our final project.
  • We also discovered another great shot by hapy accident. This happy accident shot is the shot of our main characeters outside in the gazebo area. The chemistry appears real between them and the mise en scene was really good in the outdoor setting. However we are going to re- film this shot as the lip sync is off in parts.
  • We also experimented with our choice of editing, we used black and white shots and full colour shots in order to see which we preffered. We have decided that while some shots look good in black and white, while some of the other scenes looked better in colour. This is something that we will experiment with further.

WHAT DIDN'T WORK WELL:

  •  When recording our footage we didn't have an audio track so we were working off  the video we had of them singing the song, which proved to be more difficult than expected.
  • Some of our footage was out of focus and was even more so when we converted it to black and white.
  • We were forced to use repetitive shots in our rough cut as we didin't record as much as we thought we did, so we had to use the same shots over and over again in order to finish our rough cut.
  • Again because we didn't have the audio track the lip syncing is out in many parts of our video.

Our Rough Cut

This video is our final rough cut of our music video ' I See'. We will now evaluate our rough cut, in order to see what shots worked well and which ones didn't. So we can now make a more informed decision on which shots to use and how to better our filming technique.
